WIBF Workshops
Winnipeg is in for such a treat with the remarkable talent we have in town for the burlesque festival Friday, May 30th and Saturday, May 31st. We’ve coordinated three workshops with the headliners and co-host to help you get your performances to the next level by learning from incredibly talented, international award winning professionals. The workshops do have a break in between so it’s possible to attend all three.
Workshops are open to all genders, all ages, all backgrounds and all abilities! The workshop space is provided by WIBF, fees go directly to the teachers, so discounts are available. These are held at the Prairie Theatre Exchange (same as the shows). PTE is wheel chair accessible, with gender-inclusive bathrooms. If you have any questions you can email us.
Give 'em the Wow Factor with Belle Jumelles
This class will help all performers take their stage presence to the next level! With over 15 years of performance under her belts, Belle Jumelles is known for her over the top facial expressions and her ability to command an audience - always having them in the palm of her hand! These tips are relevant for any sort of variety show - Cabaret, Drag, Burlesque or other.
What to know: This workshop involves movement. All abilities welcome. Cost $25

Join Kozmic Skater and Joy Rider for an interactive, lecture-based class designed to help you unlock and amplify the skills you’ve gathered along your journey to elevate your burlesque performances. From circus and visual arts to hidden passions. Discover how to blend your skills to create numbers that are as multifaceted as you are.
This workshop is perfect for performers at any stage of their journey—Kozmic & Joy will offer insights from their own experiences, along with tips and suggestions you can use to bring the full spectrum of your talents to the stage!
What to know: This presentation doesn’t require any movement or experience. There is seating as well as space for wheelchairs. Cost $25

Dancy Fans: Intuitive Fan Dance with Qween Quan

Learn to move feathers fiercely with New Orleans based creator and burlesque performer, Qween Quan.
This workshop is dedicated to the eager beginners or the seasoned performers with stiff wrists who want to level up their movement with fans. We will go over handling, intuition on stage, shapes and flow in an open, judgment-free space.
What to know: Most of not all of the techniques taught also translate to vegan, non-ostrich and non-feather fans. Bring your own fans, fan-less attendance is also welcome. All abilities welcome. Cost $35
